Jordan participates in meeting of International Committee for Russian Regional Center Evaluation for Space Sciences

The Director General of the Royal Jordanian Geographical Center, Colonel Eng. Muammar Kamel Al-Haddadin, representing Jordan, participated in the meeting of the International Committee for the Evaluation of the Russian Regional Center for Teaching Space Science and Technology of the United Nations.

 

A statement issued by the center today, Saturday, said that the committee's meetings in Moscow, hosted by the State Space Corporation for the Eurasian Region, have been held from August 9 to 14. The statement indicated that the committee was formed by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, and its membership includes 30 representatives from different countries of the world.

 

The mission of the committee focused on evaluating the academic and technical aspects and evaluating facilities and installations in universities and institutes affiliated with the center, which is intended to be launched in the near future. It grants a master’s degree in four specializations in the field of space science and applications, namely geographic information systems, remote sensing, space communications, space law and space meteorology.

 

It is reported that there are six regional centers for teaching space science and technology worldwide, distributed in India for the Pacific region, Morocco and Nigeria for the Africa region, Brazil for the South America region, Mexico for Latin America and the Caribbean, Jordan for the West Asia region, and China for the Asia-Pacific region.
